Esper Retirement Edition Flac Files

Since the soundtracks have been posted on FFShrine and Yahoo BR groups I would just like to say a very big thank you on behalf of the EMS team for all the words of support. Me, Jack and DC are pleased with the reception the EMS Definitive Edition has received. This is what spurred us on to do this set in the wake of the release of the original EMS in 2010. A special thank you goes to all the fellow BR soundtrack enthusiasts who have been kind enough to share their work with the rest of us and graciously given permission for us to use their work from both private and public collections. As I've mentioned before once DC and Jack have finished their own projects and my workload lessens, we will turn our attention to Antarctica. We hope to make a special expanded soundtrack for this oft overlooked work by Vangelis.

On its release the soundtrack was wellreceived, spawning numerous other compilations.

However the work didn't stopthere. For the lossless release, the EMS Team wanted to offer something a littledifferent and not just repackage the original version. Changes were made tothe running order and tracks were reworked as other sources were found.Extended versions of 'At Mr. Chew's' and 'Desolation Path' were created alongwith new tracks 'Waiting For Zhora' and 'Memories Of Green/Blade RunnerBlues'. With the help of some new friends, the EMS Team are proud topresent for the first time a clean version of 'Thinking Of Rachel'.-Comments:Blade Runner EMS Recombination is an own attempt to create a Best ofsoundtrack from all the available bootlegs of Vangelis' superb score. The selection criteria was very simple: find the pieces that represented thefilm score in their cleanest (without dialogue and sfx as much as waspossible) versions and be of the best available sound quality. It kept mostof the titles of the source tracks only changing a few as some had someobscure titles not immediately obvious to the wider audience.I hope you enjoy listening as much as I did while making this compilationB5historyman-Disclaimer:All rights of the producer and of the owner of the work reproduced reserved.Unauthorized copying, hiring, public performance and broadcasting of therecorded work for profit prohibited. For archival purposes only. As Jack has previously posted, which I hopefully won't need to repeat verbatim, enjoy these discs responsibly. This is the result of a lot of hard work, especially from DC and Jack and I would hate to see this exploited for unscrupulous commercial gain.B5hm. Bonus Disc01.

Ogi no Mato The Folding Fan as a Target (Full length version) 10.42-Notes:Some of the tracks presented here are essentially (re)assemblages of elements buried in the official view/mix of the movie, enhanced for the listener with soundtrack, audio effects and narration to place the cues in their cinematic context; the flute music and percussion piece being an extreme example of this more cinematic approach to the soundtrack. The rest of the tracks were remixed from the original audio streams to add extra aural details on the japanese cues. There might be some debate as to whether some of this is part of Vangelis' original compositions for the movie, or just someone else's creation. A couple of cues were finally uncovered and included here, thanks to the input of 1187hunterwasser and Kazushi Kimura of the Blade Runner fan network.

The rest are part of an ongoing search, which one day may come to a conclusion and expand the Blade Runner soundtrack catalogue further.-Comments:One of the aspects of the multicultural melting pot portrayed in Blade Runner was the influence of far eastern culture in the daily life of 2019 Los Angeles. From the Chinese food vendors of the White Dragon noodle bar, through the Cambodian sales lady on Animoid Row, right up to the Shimata Dominguez Corporation sponsorship of the off world colonies. Pervading all of this was the music of the far east, whether blaring out from an animated billboard or drifting down from on high from the ever present advertising blimp. Of the pieces played, “Ogi No mato” is the most widely known among the fans, in a mainly truncated version.

There were other pieces played and not always as conspicuous. Last year when one of the tracks was identified through the fan network as “Chidori no Kyoku”, the EMS team members began a search of various sources to identify which version of this track was used. The most likely candidate was a performance by Michio Miyagi. The second step was to review the film and find when the music was played. The track in an excerpted form turned up in the background music playing during the scene with Deckard waiting for a seat at the White Dragon.

Layered with other music including “Ogi No Mato”, identifying whether the Miyagi version was the correct one came down to a blind audio test between B5hm, who noted where the excerpt in the film corresponded exactly to the part of the Miyagi track, and DC. When DC independently identified the same part, they both concluded apart from a slight alteration in pitch, this was the correct version. DC began the time consuming process of transferring the track from vinyl to digital media and cleaning the track up, removing over 14,000 audio defects to present the track in its fullest and cleanest version here. The search still goes on for the alternate blimp track heard as it passes over the Bradbury and during the scene as Deckard hangs from the side of the Bradbury. B5hm’s Japanese source could only identify two words “hito me” literally translates as “person’s eye”.The EMS Team present here cues taken from the different versions of Blade Runner including previously unreleased flute music and percussion piece. These pieces were heard in the background during the sushi bar sequence and are presented here for the first time.B5historyman. Since we released the 3 disc set on Sunday, the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. So far people have expressed their appreciation of the work put in by the EMS team. In turn I would like to say thank you to you who have downloaded it.

It's your encouragement that has spurred us on to do something better. This is the result. Once we've all taken a break and DC has finished his own projects, as mentioned before, we will be turning our attention to the Antarctica soundtrack to try and produce an enhanced sound and expanded version. But that is the future. I am pleased to announce that I will be posting the mp3 version of the EMS Recombination 2011 on FFshrine in the next 2 hours. Just in the process of sorting the presentation out. I would like to extend my personal thanks again to DC for his perfectionism in sound engineering to make sure this is a signature edition that becomes the reference for others and Jack for for his sterling work on the artwork and Filip for his graciously allowing us to add tracks from his own personal archive to the expanded Japanese disc.

The 3 disc set will first be posted in mp3 format, to be followed by the lossless versions. When we post the lossless version the Japanese disc will be posted. It will give us time to make any corrections if DC feels there needs to be any made. I don't think so as this is pretty damned near perfect from all the available sources we've had access to. Thank you for all your patience on this our latest project. I am pleased to say that Jack and DC have done a superb job with the EMS2011, especially in the past couple of months due to my workload exploding and poor health.

The Japanese disc which they have worked on and expanded from my original concept is a masterpiece. Jack's artwork particularly has surpassed his previous works. I can report that DC is checking the archive for both the mp3 and lossless versions and, barring any 11th hour hitches we should be posting up over this weekend!B5HM. More likely those people will burn the cd at 16X (most likely 24X) which means errors in the process and no way to check that since audio data are sort of closed entried. Since most will burn that at speeds more than 4X the burned dye will last no more than four or five years depending on the quality of the media.

Then we get someone ripping the faulty cd and posting that version around as it did happen with the Esper MR3 or Asian Worlds releases. The mp3 release will go to any ipod and mp3 cdbackups and will stay like that in the years to come. And since it will be us encoding the hell out of it we can control the quality and all the infos to the tag to preserve in time what we have done'.

I know people like to collect stuff, but vinyl is so impracticlal and inferior to the digital format quality we have today that I just find it superfluous and expensive. If you don't have a top of the line turntable and needle and have some serious rubberized chasis so it won't vibrate it's just an inferior way to listen.somebody is going to come at me saying vinyl is more 'natural' and all that shit but it's an archaic and flawed media type.

You don't see people raving about the warmth and natural tape hiss of cassettes do you? You probably do.TL DR DIGITAL IS BETTER VINYL IS STINKY POO. You’ve said a lot here an as a professional audio engineer and composer, I’ll try to address some of it. Claiming that vinyl is inferior really depends on how you’re measuring quality. Of course if you’re talking about cost, size, space, well sure, (unless you just happen to like large media.) But saying the audio-quality is inferior is subjective.First, analog is literally the highest audio resolution you can have because it’s essentially an infinite amount of data. So while a record might have some noise, the actual audio waves are indeed more precise.

As for noise, you’re automatically assuming that noise is a bad thing. Here’s why it’s not.

One, low level-noise, called dithering, is actually added to almost every single digital recording there is, because it helps cancel out distortion that results from digital quantization errors. That’s right, noise is used to make digital recordings actually sound better.Aside from dithering, there are now countless, plugins and sample libraries that are designed to add even louder layers of noise to not only samples, but also to entire tracks because it gives the music a more raw and natural feel, as a perfectly noiseless signal doesn’t really even exist in the real world. Perfectly clean recordings can almost be anxiety inducing because the space between the sounds is too unnaturally quiet. So yes, something even like cassette tape hiss can impart a relaxing character, not to mention a different EQ curve, to a recording, and plenty of people find these differences pleasing. I will buy the argument about the resolution on the vinyl being infinite. I understand that part.but listening to something that sounds like the recording got hijacked by a bowl of rice crispies on a car ride does not equal a good listening experience.

But the rest of what you said sounds like personal preference or situational (anxiety? Ok maybe if you are listening to music in the vacuum of space.)don't get me wrong. I know vinyl will sound good if you have high end gear but I believe (I, ME, MY OPINION) digital recordings today are turning vinyl recordings into novelty or collector's items.we all can still be friends.unless you wanna fight.i'm weak I will lose. If your record player sounds like a bowl of rice crispies, you haven't listened to a fresh record on a clean system. Except for the initial needle drop, you really shouldn't be hearing anything but the music. It should sound very, very pure.

25th

I think people have this idea of the old 'record player' hiss and pop sound in their minds, but it's really only something you get on dusty old records or with a worn out needle. I'm listening to the Vangelis soundtrack right now and it sounds amazingly clear. The turntable is from 1978, and the needle was less than $20 on Amazon. I’m not saying you need an elaborate setup, my point is just that new vinyl sounds fantastic. That old dusty sound is only something you get on old dusty records. I didn’t believe it until I heard it. I remember thinking “OH.

I get why people say this sounds good.”Is it inconvenient and a lot to hook up and maintain? It’s not as easy as Spotify! Is it cheaper? How much is a phone? It’s just a different experience, and it brings some people joy in a different way. Much like how some people can over complicate making coffee:). My brother roasts coffee beans in a breadmaker and knows what temperature and all this shit to make coffee that's marginally better than the pre roasted stuff you can get at trader joe's.LONG STORY SHORT I just think the artists/bands don't want the pops and crackles there or they would have them on the recording already for effect. Why would they release digital or CD format otherwise?

Blade Runner Esper Edition

THAT is kind of my point. I listen to lots of indie label stuff and some old stuff, too. I just believe in listening as the performer/artist/band intended it to be listened to. Which I believe is a good set of near field stereo speakers and a sub optional. And not on vinyl rofl somebody stop meee. Do what you want.

Obviously we aren't going to change each other's minds here.as for the pops and crackles, I thought you said those help with anxiety and people put them into recordings on purpose now. Now you say that the only thing you should hear is when the needle drops. It doesn't check out.why would artists record albums without pops and crackles then?

Esper Retirement Edition Flac Files

I know there's no such thing as recordings with no noise. That's not what I mean. I mean pops and crackles. Unless it's for effect I really doubt artists and producers think 'yeah, this sounds good, but i really wish it had more pops and crackles and maybe a low rumble!'

Tales Of The Future

Why don't we go get movie projectors and watch film since the resolution is 'infinite' instead of watching 4k blu ray then? It's just a pet peeve of mine. I will never see the benefit to listening on vinyl. Way to totally misread what he actually said to you and then use your misunderstanding to be quite honestly rude and dismissive and snotty about the whole thing. This is why you're getting the downvotes. The pops and crackles you shouldn't hear except for when you initially lay down the needle. Pops and crackles come from worn out hardware. However hearing low level audio 'hiss' when there is silence is totally normal and that is the thing he was talking about that causes anxiety when it's not there.
