Deputy Doogie Howser approaches their yellow Rav4, and apologises. He was inspecting a white truck that is left unattended; with its engine running, As they leave, James' notices the initials MPR on the rear bumper sticker of the truck. When they stop at a Fuel-N-Food to fill up on gas, Elle notices a creepy looking guy in a black jeep, paying them too much attention; especially her. James' gives him the finger, as they leave, and also notices him speaking into a handheld radio. They nickname him: The Soviet Cowboy.Further on, into their journey, they see someone in the distance, and stop to give him assistance, and this is when their Rav4 breaks down. Another vehicle, with three occupants inside stops; their vehicle has broken down, too. What are the chances of two vehicles breaking down, next to each other?

When one of gets shot, it's a fight for survival, from an enemy they cannot see; and they're on his turf. Plus, the only cover they've got is the two vehicles; there's no cell phone reception, and it's blistering hot in the Mojave Desert.

Will they be able to turn the odds in their favour? Luckily, James' has got Duct Tape.In summation: I really enjoyed this book.

The tension at times was excruciating, and listening to their inner monologues was amusing. I'll have to check out other books by the author, sometime.

Marketed as ' The Most Gripping Suspense Thriller You Will Ever Read'. Is this True. That Is the Question!!Exciting, fast paced, suspensful thriller, with a action packed plot, with some added humour, although a little far fetched story and a little heavy on the background stories. This a a difficult book to rate as had some great fast paced action, but then sometimes ruined by slow background stories.Although the main characters were very good, especially James and Elle Eversman who are a yo Marketed as ' The Most Gripping Suspense Thriller You Will Ever Read'. I want more! This one, as well as No Exit and Our Last Night, are solid and real thrillers. And they also have a bit more depth and meaningfulness than you'd expect of an average standalone thriller. It's very light.

I'd cast Kurt Russell as the husband. If you've seen the movie 'Breakdown' and read this book, then I know you agree:). Difficult to review this without sounding like all the other 5 star reviewers, however, I simply couldn't put it down. The synopsis tells you all you need to know about the storyline, Adams takes it from there and leads you through the plot with never a doubt as to how he wants you to react - with complete shock at how words on a page can change your heart rate so quickly. Looking forward to more from him, and for you suspense writers out there.the bar has been raised. Eyeshot seriously has to be one of the best and most riveting books that I have read in a long time. It was amazing how the author managed to make such a thrilling read that stayed interesting in a situation where the scenery and characters didn't change for over 95% of the book.To be honest, there were some developments in the plot that were a bit eyebrow raising and kind of far-fetched but to me that's the whole point of reading sometimes, to escape from reality and be entertained by a book. None of these developments took away from the flow of the story in any way and just made you want to keep turning the pages even more to see what could possibly happen next.I really felt for the main characters, James and Elle, and found myself quite emotionally invested in their wellbeing by the end of the book. They were a very likeable and believable couple and after I finished reading this book I found myself stopping and wondering what would I do if my husband and I were ever faced with a similar situation. If you are a fan of a good thriller that pulls no punches and moves at a rapid pace, I totally recommend giving this book a go. HIGHLY recommend this book.

It grabs you from the first few pages and never lets go. The tension continues to mount until you think you aren't going to be able to catch your next breath. Surprises hit you right between the eyes at the most unexpected moments. The sub-title is most definitely a true statement.

A terrific read. I hated it, and I loved it.It's an understatement to say this is a thriller. I was caught up in it so fast that it was all I could think about.

The characters are interesting and real. It causes the readers to wonder what goes on in people's psyche that causes them to deviate so far from the norm. If I need to clarify that I hated it, it's because I think the world has a lot more people out there like this, just under the radar.

I found this book an interesting read, it is packed with excitement and suspense. However, not all of the actions were believable. It seems hard to belief and accept that a few unarmed characters can beat a snipper, or that Elle successfully shoots the deputy even though it is not said that she can actually shoot a gun. If it were more convincing I would have regarded the book as more successful and would have recommend it to be published, yet it was not.

If it were more convincing I would have regarded the book as more successful and would have recommend it to be published, yet it was not. Nor did I find the novel that revolutionary within its genre, though it did have some positive aspects to it. Calling this novel the most gripping suspense thriller one will read is a very dangerous and ambitious description. The reader expects the best of the best, to be sitting on the edge of their seats as they turn the pages yearning to find out if the couple will out smart and escape the deadly snipper.

Did it do that? To a degree it did but when one has the description in mind perhaps it falls a bit short in the plot department and the unravelling of the problem seemed hard to believe. After all it is one snipper againts a few people who have very little to protect and defend themselves and not only that the heat is another negative aspect that is against their favour. The characters are typical, there is a married couple, the male being more dominate and the problem solver, in fact he is their savior in a sense. For example, the majority of the problem solver being James, a male, was typical. He is always explaining something that the others have not figured out yet or that they cannot quite grasp.

Though, it's quite intriguing to read. I think it is also interesting that it is blatant that a male author has written the novel.

That being said its target audience can be seen as both male and female which is a positive attribute. There is nothing wrong with the writing. Perhaps some of the jokes aren't as funny as the author thinks they are. Perhaps the elements of comedy were thrown in as catharsis. But I found that the writing was quite smooth though maybe at times a bit insincere. I think the amounbt of dialogue was good as well because it did not overpower the novel.

It was a good harmony. I cannot say that the majority of the book needs editing, and any how it is published now and too late to be edited. The plot seems to unravel to the liking of the author. It seems that the problems are solved too quickly. I found this very unrealistic and took away from the joy of the novel. The characters were stock ones and hardly had much dimension.

Though through giving the past of the characters, the author may have tried to remedy this situation but I found that it feel short. The book is a page turner, as a reader I wanted to see if the characters would find a way to get themselves out of thir situation, though I had a fair guess of what would happen. The novel can easily be read in one to two sittings. Once the reader finishes the book, I think that is where it ends. It goes no further. This does not entail that it is unsuccessful but it does disable the reader to will to come back to it again.

Devdept Eyeshot Serial Season 7

I do think the book would make an exciting movie and may even be more successful in that department as it is packed with action. There is not much else to say about this novel, it could be published but if it were not I do not think much would be a miss in literature. Taylor Adams is a gifted writer, but I'm glad I began to read this author with his second great book. Some of the problems I had with Eyeshot disappeared in No Exit.Travelers, James and Elle were believable in the early stages of Eyeshot. They had a multitude of problems in their marriage and incredible loss for any two people to withstand and still survive the relationship.

They had a multitude of problems in their marriage and incredible loss for any two people to withstand and still survive the relationship. I found it easy to feel for them as they drove through the desert. Toss in a serial sniper and the author takes their pain level to excruciating for an unfortunate couple who only want to get to her sister's in Oklahoma after losing their home in a Sacramento fire. I liked Elle throughout the story. Her charming character made up for some of the book's shortfalls. The book certainly 'thrilled,' however, not 'the most gripping suspense thriller' I've ever read, as the book proclaimed.

What debut author adds that bold line to their cover? I picked up Eyeshot because of No Exit.Adams found creative ways for James and Elle to think through their escapes- small and large.

In the case of Eyeshot, though, I felt their problems were too numerous and so over the top it was hard to believe anyone would survive by the end of the book. James became a super man of sorts. Much too industrious to outmaneuver the killer every time, being an inside salesman who doesn't dirty his hands. James's internal dialog style differentiated little from the killer's thoughts.

Both droned on in similar tedious fashion. James would've been more believable if his thoughts were tighter throughout.A killer with a string of 50+ kills in the same spot on the highway over a two-year period would get caught, long before James and Elle came down the pike.

The killer's background- where his peers wouldn't notice that he belongs in a mental institution-not possible. The author tried to explain away all with a tiny populated town near Mojave that wouldn't notice or care. Still not buying this. The killer's dialog and inner thoughts were so long and convoluted I found myself scanning and jumping ahead. His words were so devilish, yet the author never explained why this sniper was in a constant fit of rage and had so much hate for mankind. If he did, I missed it. There is such a thing as a villain being too evil.

Adams struck that note with me in Eyeshot. This book won't keep me from reading his next. The author is made for suspense, but missed the mark with his first novel. I liked the premise of the story, even though some of the characters actions and abilities were unrealistic. Some parts to me were too detailed and not necessary and the one part that I would have loved more detail there was virtually none at all. I also thought there was an overuse of similes. Using figurative language is great, but there is a such thing as too much. I am not putting down the author's writing style, it just wasn't my style.
